06.05 PM - 06.30 PM Short lecture by Leon Kunz (PhD Candidate): The Sunflower Movement: Student-led Civil Disobedience?
Focus: A brief history of the protests and developments leading up to a mass enactment of civil disobedience by young people in the Sunflower Movement. I will briefly discuss how civil disobedience was enacted in the movement and what we can learn from the Taiwanese experience. I will also touch on questions of movement composition, tensions between different generations of activists, and the changing symbolic role of student participants in Taiwanese protests.
