ERCCT will stage its Taiwan Documentary Film Festival 2020 online November 13 to 22, throwing the spotlight on the life of Taiwan's indigenous peoples, bringing to you a number of fascinating, deeply moving and very popular documentaries on daily life and attempts at cultural restoration of various groups. Two of these films are by this year's guest director and Atayal social activist Pilin Yapu 比令 亞布.
The Festival will start with an online introductory talk and Q&A with National Dung Hwa University anthropologist Prof. Kerim Friedman on Monday, November 16, 12:30 - 13:45 pm. Guest Director Pilin Yabu will join at the same time on Friday, November 20, for a discussion of his work.
With generous support from the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute, the films are available online from November 13 to 22 for anyone who registers for free (see link below)
All films are shown with English subtitles.

The annual Taiwan Documentary Film Festival (TDFF) is jointly administered by the ERCCT and the Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies, Department of Chinese Studies, at Tübingen University. The first festival took place in May 2006. Every festival centers on either a particular topic, often related to socially marginalized groups in Taiwan or on the work of an invited guest director.
