Bruce Jacobs critically examines how the history of Taiwan was constructed to present the island as a part of China under the authoritarian Nationalist regime and how it is still presented in this way in the People’s Republic of China.
BRUCE JACOBS, Professor of Asian Languages and Studies, received his AB., MA and PhD degrees from Columbia University in the United States. He also studied as a postgraduate student in the History Research Institute of National Taiwan University and has been an Exchange Scholar and a Concurrent Professor at Nanjing University. A specialist in Chinese and Taiwan politics and society, his publications include many books, journal articles and book chapters in Chinese and English.
